چکیده

This study aimed to assess the ability of adhesion, detachment, and biofilm formation reference strain Staphylococcus aureus CCM 4223 on a stainless steel surface, efficacy three disinfectants: preparation A (based peracetic acid, 20 mg/l), B (newly developed disinfectant with combination two active ingredients, caprylic acid hydrogen peroxide, 25 C sodium hypochlorite, 200 mg/l) in removing S. cells adhered onto this surface. Cell detachment was around 5 log CFU/cm 2 (colony forming units) over first 6 h 48 characterizing high persistence tested The number (5–7 ) needed for noted already after incubation. decrease cell counts caused by 1.12–2.07 ( P < 0.0001), whereas B, 1.13–2.08 1.61–2.16 , respectively 0.0001). Preparation found be most effective (80.9%) reducing count matrix. From these results, assayed revealed capacities adhere form biofilms surfaces, matrixes were resistant total removal when exposed evaluated disinfectants.

Formation of Biofilms by Staphylococcus Aureus on Stainless Steel and Glass Surfaces and Its Resistance to Some Selected Chemical Sanitizers

The objectives of this work were to verify the capability of Staphylococcus aureus of forming bio-film on stainless steel and glass surfaces; to evaluate the efficiency of sodium dichloroisocyanurate, hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid in inactivating Staphylococcus aureus cells adhered onto these surfaces; and to visualize biofilm development by scanning electron microscopy before and after ...

Biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus from food contact surfaces in a meat-based broth and sensitivity to sanitizers

This study assessed the capacity of adhesion, the detachment kinetic and the biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus isolated from food services on stainless steel and polypropylene surfaces (2 × 2 cm) when cultivated in a meat-based broth at 28 and 7 °C. It was also to study the efficacy of the sanitizers sodium hypochlorite (250 mg/L) and peracetic acid (30 mg/L) in inactivating the bacter...

Biofilm Formation in Staphylococcus Aureus and its Relation to Phenotypic and Genotypic Criteria

Abstract Background and Objective: Biofilm is a complex microbial community embedded in a self-produced extracellular polymeric matrix. We aimed to study the extent of biofilm formation by S. Areas isolates and its relation to some phenotypic and genotypic criteria. Material and Methods: One hundred-fifty strains of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from Gorgan were studied. Microtiter plate a...

Anti-biofilm formation of a novel stainless steel against Staphylococcus aureus.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a bacterium frequently found proliferating on metal surfaces such as stainless steels used in healthcare and food processing facilities. Past research has shown that a novel Cu-bearing 304 type stainless steel (304CuSS) exhibits excellent antibacterial ability (i.e. against S. aureus) in a short time period (24h.). This work was dedicated to investigate the ...

The effects of stainless steel finish on Salmonella Typhimurium attachment, biofilm formation and sensitivity to chlorine.

Bacterial colonization and biofilm formation on stainless steel (SS) surfaces can be sources for cross contamination in food processing facilities, possessing a great threat to public health and food quality. Here the aim was to demonstrate the influence of surface finish of AISI 316 SS on colonization, biofilm formation and susceptibility of Salmonella Typhimurium to disinfection. Initial atta...
